    I have narrowed down my search for a truck for oilfield hauling to Mac and Freightliner.
    This will be used in rough west Texas oilfield roads.
    What do you recommend?
    I heard Mack is sturdy and strong for offroad but maintenance is too $$$$ ???
    WHAT WOULD YOU BUY?

    Research how each truck was spec’d.
    Just because of what ‘name’ is on the truck, does not automatically classify one or the other for oilfield work.

    The list can be long;
    Engine
    Transmission, 18sp vs 13sp vs 10sp. Forget the auto-shifts.
    Frame, single channel vs double frame.
    Rear-end ratio.
    Air ride vs spring suspension.
    Fifth wheel, slide vs fixed.
    Cab interior amenities.
    Dealer(repair shop) support.
    Price difference.

    You can’t buy this truck today but Edison Motors building oil field trucks. They have video were the go with customer to spec a truck they way that want it. Edison Motors is going to build heavy duty off road truck built to last 20+ years. So no plastic parts. They are building their first 5 trucks try get them perfect before try go to selling to everyone.

    If they can pull this off they building diesel electric trucks. Scania diesel engine to recharge batteries that power electric drive axles and everything. Their goal is to build truck to last long time and easy to repair. They are building a 3 drive axle oil field trucks today. Maybe you next truck could be Edison Motors truck. A company to track of if someone it looking for extreme heavy duty off road trucks

    That's good, because he'll be buying more of them. Freightliners (other than the SD models) tend to fall apart during oilfield service.
