For arguments sake- what happens when the jerkwad in the tesla has his "autopilot" engaged and drives into a cmv? Accident investigators weigh the truck and find the tandems are 100 pounds over. It goes from being the tesla's fault to at least a no fault, but odds are that the lawyers will argue that if the cmv had legal weights, the cmv driver could have avoided the malfesance of the tesla driver.
It's not right, but it's what is.Kyle G. Thanks this. -
That’s just stupid. All you did there was fail miserably at fear mongering.jcrack08, kylefitzy, kemosabi49 and 2 others Thank this.

Especially when it's easy enough to argue even the tightest load could shift 100lbs in a collision and aftermath.
Edit: And that's like 3/10ths of 1% over.GreenPete359 Thanks this. -
Regardless of how much fuel he has or where he’s going, today, he’s gonna have to move his fifth wheel If he wants the rest of his life to go easier. 11,400 on steers with 34,400 on drives??
Hammer166 and Blue Zombie Trucker Thank this. -
The OP stated he needed help and posted a scale ticket, and he mentioned the driver did not fuel yet. So I can only assume that the truck needed fuel. The run was from Larrdo, Texas to Toughkenamon, pa. Which is about 1800 miles. A smart driver would know the max he could haul and scale out, and would find out how much the load weighed before picking it up, but obviously he didn't do that. So... Could he scale it out and run it, and go around scales, absolutely. But why would a driver do that on a 1800 mile load if he didn't have full tanks? Why make extra work and cause yourself extra time if you could have the trailer reworked? Thats my point....

It's not fear mongering - it's reality.
If a lawyer can find a scale ticket showing the driver KNEW he was overweight before an accident then the driver is screwed. -
That drivers gonna spend 2 hours moving the 5th wheel two holes, and another hour reweighing and sending more messages asking questions.
OR, he could just
Get rolling, and burn off the fuel. If he gets caught, whats it gonna cost - $50??? It's called tuition, junior.
As for the ##### fear mongers, go back to watchin Fox & Friends, will ya?Hammer166 Thanks this. -
Always arrive at a shipper fully fueled when possible. Cut a pallet, I say.
-
Only way to know fuel burn is to physically track and measure...What mpg shows on the dash can be real close or 2mpg off..
