Western Express might hire you and they have their own CDL school.
Sneakerfix and Nycoilfieldrookie Thank this. -
I'm going to be starting at Western Express's CDL school on the 6th and I'll likely do a thread on it so if you want to you can wait and see how my experience is.
Nycoilfieldrookie Thanks this. -
Are Ltl companies harder to get on with? I have 4 young children. The wife and I have talked about me going otr for a year for the experience. She's not too thrilled, but she wasn't all too thrilled about me on a 14/7 with Halliburton

Sounds good

LTL companies aren't that hard to get on with if you have a clean MVR.
Old Dominion is one of the best and they hire new cdl grads; even had recruiters at cdl schools in PA looking for drivers.Nycoilfieldrookie Thanks this. -
@nyco Personal record, how you act at the interview, amount of gigs in your area, all affect a non experianced driver getting a local job. Not imposible, knock on lots of doors and think beyond the normal companys.
Nycoilfieldrookie Thanks this. -
Best way I've heard to get on with a LTL Co is to get your CDL and work the docks. Let the terminal manager know you have a CDL and after a while he may throw you a bone.

You'll make up the $6k in no time with a ltl outfit. Even on the dock and not driving

Con-way also has LTL division and hires new cdl grads.
Nycoilfieldrookie Thanks this.
