3,000 miles a week, that is quite a bit of driving.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

It's a "smallish" family owned company. Abilene motor express based in Richmond VA. We have 400 tractors and God knows how many trailers.

There is no average pay. Some driver rush into low-paying companies and others go to better paying companies. If someone gives you an average that's usually interpreted as a floor and makes working for low-quality companies seem safer. Pick a good company and do what you have to to be hired there. I made $5k my first year about 20 years ago and was home most weekends. The more often you are home the less money you will likely make.

I was netting about 800 after taxes at Swift flatbed, but a good majority of the loads are vans. 4 months in and learning how to play the game and I netted 1469 last week. This week it's going to be 216 gross after having one load home for 4 days and a 34 to get the hours to get there.

You can average 2800-3000 miles for swift. Starting pay is .37 plus securement and multiple stop pay etc. bonuses are from 1-5cpm depending on how many miles you safely average on time.

I also talked to a guy who worked for TMC and was talking 800 net and home weekly. I could live on that, but I wouldn't want to.

Home time was also merely a 34, so not really home time.

    Friday Thanks this.

I remember around Feb 2016, the TMC recruiter coming in and telling us that new drivers are GUARANTEED a $1000 paycheck per week when starting out after training. He said the company did that because they were so confident that drivers, as long they operated as they 'should', would make more than that.

Now, the people that earn less at TMC, do you think its because the company is full of bull, or that they dont hustle?

First year blows just the way it's is. Hell alot of the really good gigs around here want 3+ years before they even look at you. But the doors will open if you keep your nose clean. I've been a tanker yanker for several years now and love it. Home everyday and gross over 92k this year should be even be even better.

Wow, good deal dude. Thanks for the input. I'm figuring 1st year is gonna be maybe 40-45k if I really hustle, next couple will be a little better, then by year 5 I should be OK. Is that pay you make particular to your area in cali? Or is that typical for gas haulers anywhere?
