I'm looking to transition myself out of my current job field. I ultimately want to get my CDL and try driving, but I'm taking smaller steps right now by getting into a dealership/service center, who has said they will assist me in getting my CDL. It may seem like I'm taking an odd direction but there is certainly a method to my madness.

Hey! I did a bachelor in criminal justice and a master in higher education administration, and thought trucking was a little intimidating too, but I've been driving solo 3 years. You can do it!!!

I came to trucking from an office gig I did the last 10 years before. So i know how you feel.

    Just do it.

Small comfort: Those trucks look really big especially at first. But once you climb in them they dont feel as large.

This always gets me, what are you doing?

    Cop?

    Criminal attorney?

    Process server?

Just wondering - don't have to answer.

Look it is intimidating for many, but got to tell you my oldest kid at 15 was moving trucks around the yard and at 16 would hook up a trailer and move the truck to the other yard which meant four turns to make it into the gates. She had no issues with it, so I would believe anyone else would not have any issues either.

And if you ever driven a pickup with a trailer, then you have a step up.

By the way, I knew an 'old lady' (she was younger than I was) that never drove a car before, after her husband passed she went to 'truck driv'n school' and got herself a cdl. She was a good driver and after 10 years and nearly a million miles, she decided to do something else.
