Hey if anyone is interested I have my 2000 F-150 for sale bought a sweet truck today so someone else can have my 2000 F-150 $3,000 which is fair blue book price. Just got new coil packs installed and the truck runs great. Millage is high, but trucks been taken care of was my everyday truck so it had to be taken care of so I could get to work and back.
Here is a current picture of it.
I tell you what all the cars I have for sale are perfect cars for you OTR guys, there cheap well maintained have good storage space load all your gear in them drive them to the terminal where your truck is parked, then just let them sit there, while your off doing your 1-2 month run out on the road before they bring you back in.tucker and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this. -
Here is the reason I have all these old cars for sale.
A friend of mine and I had a small town car/air port shuttle business it was never much of anything, but it was something I wanted to give a go to.
My friend also had some hard times in his life bad divorce and some other troubles and he needed a car to drive and we were trying out a business and it was also helping him out helped him out for a while. Well the business never took I lost interest. He was fine with that, no hard feelings. As far as helping him out my generosity could only go so far and actually he knew and even said hey look I owe you more then I can ever pay back, I understand if it's time to start selling the cars off and my son and I will make our own way.
I said well yes, but I don't want to leave you hanging. He goes, no no no you know what the slap in the face to you is, while you were helping us we never bothered to help our selves, which to a point was something they probably should have done a little bit of a better job of.
I mean say I was broke and someone said "Hey Mike here's a car to drive and I'll take care of all the major heavy maintenance and repairs." Well that's a pretty good deal for me if I need help, but you can bet your bottom dollar while I was being helped like that I would be out there hustling as fast as I could. You know what I mean and if hustling means working full time at U-Haul for $9.00 an hour renting trucks and installing trailer hitches on rusty old cars then that's what I would be doing and if I had to work part time at night at Joe's Pizza answering the phone and working in the Kitchen then I would be there as well.
Trying to put some money aside. That way I could be back on my own as quick as possible.
You know Dave Ramsey said it best there's a big difference between "Poor" and "Broke" my friend used to say to me "Were poor and it's not good to be poor."
I finally said to him "Stop it stop saying your poor. Broke I'll accept broke, but I won't accept poor, poor is a loser give up attitude broke is more of an okay were on hard times, and were broke, but were not busted time to roll up our selves and get to work. Will dig our way out of this mess."
Anyhow I helped him for years on and off and so did another friend and they had nicer cars then I drove while they were being helped, but at any rate it couldn't go on forever and they knew this and plus he knew I can't accept a complete lack of production from them and that eventually it had to end so no hard feelings, and he knew he needed out of my pocket book, I've got work to focus on and right now schools back in session and I've been doing a lot of support work and system floating and making good money at it and it's time I keep more of my pennies and only have my self to watch out for. By the time it all comes out I sell off the rest of my fleet and go down to one vehicle I'll financially have a very acceptable amount of money saved up, and then just save what I can and next year should be able to move out and be able to afford a home in the $200,000 range which is really good for Cleveland area and have a nice nest egg to sit on after the down payment.
If I play my cards right I can be in really really good shape. However my life works for me I mean I understand what I did isn't what everyone does. I'm not married and have no kids I don't have girl friends I live at home so I don't have any bills, I realize those are all really uncool things, but I've never been interested in being one of the cool kids that ship sailed a long time ago.
Anyhow I don't know why my friend didn't do more to help him self, when he had the chance, but doesn't matter now.
There was an adult film star who and I forget her name, but she said something kind of interesting and this is kind of what I am getting at, she said when she was in high school she worked really hard getting 4.0s and everything and I guess she was from a bad home go figure and ended up getting a full ride college scholarship with room and board the whole 9 yards. Anyhow she said the minute she got to college she said her studying days were over she had her room and board taken care of and paid for and was on borrowed time and now it was time to get to work. Make hay while room and board are free. So when there not free your all ready set up. Now look I'm not advocating go into the adult film industry, but that was just an example of someone helping them selves while they were getting help.
Now nobody think I am just going to let my friend go without wheels that's not going to happen, but he better start getting his ducks in a row and he knows this said it him self, because it's over my road of generosity has run out and he knew and admitted that there was no way this was going to go on and he knew that him and his son being in my pocket book wasn't going to last it couldn't. So that was that.
The problem is, a lot of times people accept temporary solutions as permanent. Meaning they don't fix the problem at hand. It happened at work 2 weeks ago. Last Friday I was in Maryland. The truck we were supposed to take was out of oil, washer fluid and fuel. Pensky was closed. Luckily I have a Com-Data card and company credit card so I was able to purchase the proper things to get us going at a truck stop on US Route 40, but the regular driver at work didn't have those things so what happens next time that happens and I'm not there. The driver out of the warehouse doesn't have a company credit card and Com-Data card. By the way company credit cards are not standard issue to everyone and neither are Com-Data cards, well Com-Data cards are more standard issue to drop lot guys like me we all have them, but warehouse drivers and some other drop yards do not.
This is really long winded but the moral of the story is when you catch a break do all you can to take advantage of that break. While others are helping you take time to help your self.osokusmc and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this. -
Hey and here is where I was going normally I don't like this brand, but if I couldn't get a Ford because the Fords are very expensive even used I can't afford anything in the past 2 generations and this current generation forget about it price wise, but I was and I feel awful for saying this and it's probably not even allowed and I shouldn't even mention it, but I was kind of leaning towards Toyota. Is that allowed or completely unacceptable. I mean like that Toyota Pick Up Truck that they had in Back to the FutureIII Toyota SRX 5 those were HOT back in the 1980's granted there ancient technology now, kids today don't even know, but man you see someone with one of those and your head turns that for sure. Actually a good one now with low millage is probably easy 10-11G's. However I was kind of leaning towards Toyota is that allowed or not really?
