    Mike2633,

The long weird hours that are part and parcel to the transportation industry can make maintaining relationships difficult. It's something I struggle with. I start my line run at 4:00pm and typically don't get off until 6:00am, my weeks are between 60 and 70 hours. It's difficult trying juggle that work schedule and be a husband, father and take care of various chores that need to be done. I often feel guilty because at the end of the week my energy is so low I really can't be as good at the relationship/family things as I should be.

Well and that was coming too. I'm home at night time, but what time I get off work can very someday's it's early someday's it's later. It varies around the time of year. Summers are usually light and we get a bit of a break, but August through October we go heavy then November through December we go heavy until school's let out then we get a little slower, but then once schools are back in were heavy and busy till June.

The problem is I can't do delivery forever eventually there will be a transit run and I'll probably want to take it. Now that could have been years from now, and what ever, but she said that my world was just to foreign to here. Trucking is a very volatile and changing business it's constantly in flux. Runs come runs go. New Routes come old routes get cut. One minute business dictates we need 8 trucks at the yard the next year business dictates we only need 4 trucks.

The part that's easy to understand is the truck takes things someplace that's simplest words.

But the operations around that all and the who, what, where and why? That's all a lot harder to understand. Or maybe she just didn't want to I don't know.

It's to bad like CF Company it's too bad it all went down the toilet at least for me, but yeah it takes a special person that's true.

Drivers from food service companies occasionally come over to my company to do P&D. They say LTL p&d is much easier than food service. Handling all those boxes of food would be exhausting and probably wear out a persons body prematurely.

What does your shuttle pay? I know our transit drivers if they work really hard can make about the same as us delivery guys.

Yeah I don't know how people can get married in there early 20s that wasn't my experience, that would be hard for me too. However I'll be 30 in May so it's not to worry about that for me, and I wasn't ready to be married in my early 20s still not 100% sure I'm there just yet.

I remember listening to Dennis Praiger once and some woman called up and said that she was 21 standing in the dressing room of a church getting ready to get married and she was looking in the mirror going "This is a mistake." Well low and behold the woman was divorced from that guy and Praiger said "Better to be left at the alter then divorced."
