The last Cannon truck I remember seeing first hand was in early 2000. While waiting to get into the shop to get some work done at the Flagstaff Az Peterbilt dealership I was parked next to a Cannon tractor that looked as if had been sitting there for a while due to the parking lot dust buildup on the cab and hood. This Cannon International was unique due to the fact that it had a small sleeper (approximately 40"), this was the only Cannon truck I had ever seen with a small sleeper. One of those things that just stuck in my head over the years for some reason.

    Great job on Cannon!
Just curious are you familiar with Carl Subler trucking? They were founded and maintained corporate offices in your state. At one point they were something like the 10th largest truckload carrier of in the US. I guess they were one of those post deregulation success stories that eventually went bust.

No I am not familiar with Subler I can't even say I've seen any of there used or broken down left for dead equipment around. I'll look them up.

Cannon's fleet was very homogonous for sure. All of there trucks were exactly the same. Cannon's big problem was he had all his eggs in one-two baskets and he was big, but wasn't big enough and he got gunned by the bigger boys I guess.

Maybe the truck I saw a those years ago was a OO leased to Cannon? The reason I assumed it was a company truck is because it was painted Cannons color.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

That air starter was a one of a kind. It wasn’t as loud in the video, but that thing would cause people to jump.

    Mike2633 and Mike_77 Thank this.
