I understand that the cab skeleton is the same, so technically I suppose one "could" install a one piece glass in an older cassie, if you wanted to go thru the trouble of grinding off the permanent gasket and re bonding a one piece gasket?

Yeah Cassie have had their share of water leaks on what I would consider an otherwise really decent cab, at over 900,000 on some of our 2010's there still isn't a rattle to be found, door handle broke off, dash falling out, or missing trim pieces.

We have had water leaks, around the "permanent gasket that is glued to the cab that the roped in gasket sets in, we have had water leaks around the sun-visor/cab lights, and also around the roped in gasket itself, that was why I was wondering about whether it was roped or bonded.

Mine is leaking a bit somewhere.

I like the wipers across the one piece better as well as the improved visibility but for me, the ultimate test is how the wipers will do in wet accumulating snow, and I'm not very optimistic about good snow performance with the longer blades.

    Some new thoughts...

Seems the one-piece windshield is going to handle wet snow mitigation better but I've only dealt with some minor snowfall so far

Also a software update was applied but about all I can see this accomplished (in our fleet) was gave me access to performance mode. And seems to have hurt fuel economy but it's perhaps too early to know for sure given my latest routes since. (I still only use economy mode)

It might just be me, but I think they look a lot better compared to the previous gen. I thought they actually look a tad bad@$$ now.

I encourage you to stay with the economy.

However. Ive always felt very good with a truck that will dig for you when you ask it to get up for to run like a good horse will.

It's just me. It might cost you a dollar or two here and there now and then...

They're still producing the earlier models at least in the shorter version, there were 2019s at the dealer in Dubuque a few weeks ago.

    Foodliner is getting them.

I've saw two today that answer my question on how do they keep the front bumper intact.
Answer is they don't. One guy had his held up with zip ties, the other was far more proper and done with boot or shoe laces.

Anybody else hate the factory radio? Not sure if they are all the same, but mine has such sensitive movement detection on the selection dials (in a menu) that it's difficult to end up on your desired selection unless you're stopped. Trying to change from XM1 to Bluetooth source source is generally an exercise in frustration, and the worse the road, the more difficult proper selection becomes. Hair fine movements changes to next selection. Would be great in a Mercedes 700 class automobile.

And the kicker is, Freightliner does not provide a complaint or feedback tool for actual drivers so don't expect any improvements in future year models.

Not been around the newer style, but the radios are probably the same.

Guy I know bought a upgrade with integral satellite tuner, has Bluetooth inside, like most of them now, mine doesn't, I'm not real keen on any enhanced capabilities, so mine works ok. I have another sitting in a box, so it may get changed out if it's a problem for me.

Wondering if yours still shuts down on you, the new old style ones do, at least from what my friends tell me, mine only does it when ac is running, like in defrost mode, some cold air hitting the key switch does it, with a visible flash under the dash above my left knee while driving in the dark.

There are issues with most new trucks, from what I hear.

The only truly bizarre behavior my '18 Cascadia is ....

You know how at casino slot machines, and you press the cash out button? Then when it's printing the ticket, it makes some make a digital "clinking sound" to simulate nickels hitting a tray? A sound very similar to that, about 1 second long comes from behind the center dash display, once maybe every 7-14 days, just out of the blue. I can't make any sort of rhyme or reason out of it. Only heard it when I'm running down the road.

Anybody have any confirmation of WTH this is or is it just me?
