I live in Reno, NV and am looking forward to becoming a truck driver. Over the next few days I'm going to make the decision whether to pay for my own training or apply to the companies that train their own drivers. Since I tend to want to take things into my own hands I'm leaning toward paying for my own. Any advice would be welcome, including anyone who has knowledge of any of the three CDL schools in the Reno area.

    Cheers.

Go to the private school is possible. Afterwards, for the best annual pay, go with a good flatbed or tanker company. Get the tanker/hazmat endorsements, TWIC, and a passport. A couple of good companies to look at are Melton Truck Lines and System Transport. Take care & ask more questions on the "Questions From New Drivers" thread. Take care.

Get a head start by studying the "CDL Practice Tests" at the top of this page.
