Hi all, been lurking this forum for a week or so in hopes of improving my knowledge of this great profession. I was a professional firefighter in my previous life with 10 years CDL B driving all types of fire trucks including tillers and tankers. Moved to the Daytona area last year due to my wife's battles with cancer(cancer-free and much better down here) and the need for a warmer climate than the DC area. Our little small business isn't businessing so I'm going truckin'. My wife and kids( and I) have accepted the year or so of weeks out and I'm looking at my options. So far it's either Flagler Technical Institute in Jan for 8 weeks, then try to get on with Crete or calling Central Refrigerated and going to their school in GA. I go for my Combo, Tanker and Hazmat endorsements next week. Should be fine( not like passing Pro Boards for paramedic). I have a clean driving record, steady employment history, strong work ethic and a professional demeanor. Also, I am a Gulf War(1st one) Navy Vet. So, hello and thank you in advance for comments and advice for this new gear grinding hopeful.
