No, Danny, I would'nt pay at that rate. Just busting your chops a little is all. This industry is so very fluid that adaptation is the key to success for frucker's and broker's alike, I suspect.
I dd put new tires on my wife's car this morning and bought locally but checked prices at 4 different places in town before making my decision.
The trick is to prove your worth to a few key people and then work with them as much as you can. We don't pull much off the board anymore. In fact, I'm really surprised how little we use it.
New and wiery?

what i'd like to know is why loads are still on the board if they are already covered.
don't know about the rest of you guys but i certainly don't like wasting my time and cell phone minutes on a posted load that isn't available. take the darn thing OFF. -
A lot of brokers do the same lanes everyday of the year and the load boards they use have options to automatically post daily or weekly, etc. Furthermore they may have covered everything but want to get a list of backup they can call should a shaky driver fall off. They could have 40 loads to cover that day and just been too busy (or lazy) to log on and take the 2 or 3 that were just covered down. The load could be fictional and they are just posting it to fish for information i.e. rates, how many people call in, etc. There are many more reasons I can't think of right now...
To help you out shopping on the boards I recommend searching for the load you want, then sorting the list of available loads by the time/date posted. It's slightly different on each site, but locate the heading "age of posting" or "time posted" and click on that header. Then the list of loads will be sorted most recent-oldest. Naturally the ones that have only been on the board for 15 minutes are more likely to be available. Hope that helps -
i've only called on loads that have 0 listed for the time frame. ITS only goes by hours. unless there's a way to know the minutes.
i'm still learning the board. just recently discovered how to find loads with payment amounts listed. i have absolutely no intentions of wasting my minutes on loads that have no amount listed.
