Ok.... So, I just got into a 2024 cascadia with a tripac evolution apu. It's brand new and I've never had an apu so we could be dealing with operator error here... My apu works flawlessly when turned on. Everything I've read both online and in the manual says that when I start the truck the apu should turn off, and return to whatever setting it was on when I restart the truck. This unit does not shut off when I start the truck. If the apu is running when I start the truck, it stays running until I manually shut it off holding the power switch on the hmi panel. Then I have to turn it back on to whatever setting I need when I park. Is this normal operation? Will it run for a certain amount of time after the truck starts before turning itself off and I'm just not waiting long enough? Will it hurt anything if I forget to shut it off and it runs long term while I'm driving? I apologize in advance if these are stupid questions. Thank you
It should turn off when starting the truck. Might have something wrong with how it is wired. No harm if you turn it off before starting the truck.
Also it should only run when charing the the batteries. Should take an hour or so and then turn off and back on depending on what you have running.
The one I had in my truck had a setting in the software that you could select to turn off while truck engine is on.. Mine was a 2015 build model evolution. No idea if the new ones are different or not - see if there is a USB type plug coming out from the computer box . That's your diagnostic port and when plugging into your computer it should bring up the software..
When it is turned on, it starts and shuts off like it should based on temperature and battery voltage. If I start the truck while the apu is running, it stays running.
I’d leave it alone....they can be set to do that Just shut it off before you go But believe me...,there’s gonna be brutally hot days and insanely cold days You’re gonna find that a blessing
Works for me. I just wanted to be sure there weren't any issues that could arise from it running while the truck is running
could be 1 problem and that is both water pumps running at the same time Myself I wouldn't have a apu that is plumbed into the trucks coolant system... the reason is if something happens to the trucks coolant system say a radiator hose breaks you lose your coolant and your stuck in the south in the summer sitting on the side of the road for what could be hours with the apu not running because of no coolant....!! Also if something happens to the apu coolant system the truck will pump all its coolant out thru the apu....!! Either way your stuck waiting on road service and have no ac till they fix it.... if i were to get a apu it would it would be a stand alone apu
