So I've recently obtain my DOT and MC number. I do local routes in a cargo van but I'm looking to lease a truck and hire a driver. Take the profit from that one truck and lease another truck and so on. I have 4 amazon facilities within 25 miles of where I plan to operate. It's also tons and tons of factories and warehouses. I've downloaded DAT and 123 load boards and I see a lot of good paying loads with good loads coming back. I don't know much about the trucking industry and decided to try it from an entrepreneurial standpoint. What should I look for in drivers? How much on average do companies pay their drivers?
I'm also open to any advice in general.
New Authority, advice on booking loads?

A Bad driver? Damage the truck, disappear with the truck. And load.

After so many weeks or months you decide you made an oppsy. You are over your head and are not making much money.
You sell the truck, fire the driver and screw him because you illegally classified him as a contractor when he is an actual employee.
while you are out of some money, he is out of a job and no unemployment.
Yeah your idea of learning is the best. -

I don't understand why people think Trucking is something entrepreneurial to do that it's a business you can come into with no experience and be successful and make money.
I think a hair salon is a great business. I've never been in a hair salon I have no idea what services are offered I have no idea how to hire people what to do with inventory what needs to be kept in inventory or how much money it will cost me but you know what I think I just do it anyway....
Hey man it's really easy. All I have to do is find a storefront, renovate it, make it look nice and everyone will come in and work and I'll count the money. How much easier can it be than that?
And by the way, no employee respects a boss that has no idea what's going on.DachTrucking Thanks this. -

Your paying $550 a week plus .19 a mile?
That = $3910 on a 9000 mile month.
I know you did the math on that
How much will your insurance be?
what numbers are you coming up with? I’m just curious.
