Myself I'd get as far away from the GTA as possible. Your dollar goes WAY further just about anywhere else in this country.

I find it hard to believe you can't find OTR/border crossing work, even in this economy. No, you won't get callbacks if you're only applying for local/Canada-only jobs. There's no shortage of experienced drivers wanting to stay close to home, and they'll get the job before a greenhorn every time - you have to be willing to pay your dues and do your time as a crossborder driver
Like has been mentioned previously in this thread, start with a carrier that has a finishing program like your Challengers, Bisons etc. More training will make you a safer/better driver and the more experience you have with a clean record, the more choices you will have in the future.Dumpin_loads Thanks this. -

Highlight is a good starter company. But for dear god DO NOT go driver inc with them even if they pay more. I had a few friends that worked there and got screwed hard on pay, only reason they got their pay again is because they were payroll.
Honestly even when I was new 5 years ago I did cross border for a year or so before I was able to find a local job. Try caravan as well.
It sucks as a new driver, I was in your shoes a while ago, I was lucky that challenger took me on.Dumpin_loads Thanks this.
