The broker never sets the rate, the rate is set only when a truck agrees to haul it. You will figure it out and succeed or you won't.
With that said, find posts from guys like Redforeman, rollin coal, trees, mndriver, bigbadbill, Oscar the kw, bayou hotshot, etc and learn. I am sure there are many I forget but its Sunday. -

I like to complain about low rates too. I don't have any special gig going. It's only taken me two years to establish a reputation, identify a few good brokers, and figure out a few market and logistic details that enable me to pull solid rates in the areas I want to be in, and sometimes places I don't want to be. I've also had to work hard on controlling the cost side of the equation. I wouldn't say we're making decent money yet. More like we've gone from bleeding money like a welfare program to being just about self sustaining. The positive trend is what keeps me going. It will probably be another year or two at this rate before I can say I'm really satisfied with the profitability. -
Sorry I didn't mean to make the conversation track off topic. I will start a new thread sometime with my rants in it. I am sorry OP.

No need to apologize. The OP might learn something from your rants. As for KR, he is nothing more than a snake oil salesman who is only interested in filling his pockets with your hard earned money.

There is no law that says a broker has to show you what he is making on a load. If you are leased to a company and you wish to see the invoice to the customer, they are required to show it to you. Good luck on your brokerage, just be fair and tell the truth and you will be ok. If you quote your customers high enough in the first place, you won't have any trouble finding trucks.

Ya sure about that ???
