Nothing in my post said anything about anyone being "lucky enough to have cash laying around to pay for training out of pocket". It sounds as if maybe you have some envy at work there. Whatever I have, I've gained through a lifetime of hard work and responsibility; "luck" seems to follow that.
I asked a specific question of the OP, that's all. His postings suggested what sounded like a pretty successful career as a corporate executive. If he would have said he was destitute, I wouldn't have asked about it. You're the one who jumped in with your story of only having $150 in the bank; not something I really need to know about.
My mistake on the gender.

notezbngrn71 Thanks this. -
If you have the drive, and are used to being successful in life, you will do OK at USA Truck. They are like most mega-carriers, good and bad points. As stated by an earlier poster, it will take you about 3 months to figure them out, then it is your turn to make the best of it. Good luck to you.

Well, the end of the first day of Orientation has ended and a little early to boot! Drug test and interview this morning. Everything went very well and tomorrow we start to cover company policies and procedures.
Time for a nap now...Lady K Thanks this. -
Day two of orientation draws to a close. More paperwork and videos today. Learned some more about company procedures. Not a whole lot to report actually.
-
There will be a lot of days like that. Not that you'll have days when you won't do much, it's just that putting 600 miles into words somehow doesn't seem to justify what you actually achieved.

Third day of Orientation is over and was filled mostly with payroll and benefits review and paperwork. As well as a refresher course on The Smith System.
Tomorrow is a short day and the last day of orientation! Then I should have my trainer assignment and be out on the road! -
Orientation ended today and I'm back at the hotel waiting for my trainer to call. Should know by the end of the day when I'm meeting up to hit the road.
-
Why a year?

Congrats man! Good to hear you are hitting the road! Drive safely!
