    Schneider veteran here....

Pass up the offer from Schneider -- & look elsewhere.

    Why?

With Schneider -- your time out on a trainer's truck will be days -- not weeks.

You will need more than one week (or less) on a trainer's truck to learn things as you should.

Unless you've already been rejected by them -- be sure to also look at/check out Swift Transportation. They have a terminal right there in Houston, & hire/train brand new CDL holders:

    Swift Transportation Houston, TX Terminal

With Swift -- you will be on a trainer's truck for about 3 weeks...or a bit longer.

For truly learning how to drive on a professional level -- that's about right.

The CDL job market...especially for beginners...is pretty bad right now. I expect things to get worse -- before things get better.

Swift may well be one of the few carriers that still hire rookies....who will actually take you on right now.

    Best of luck...:headbang:

Alot of people are saying there's a slowdown in the economy and truckers on social media are saying their miles are being cut, a bird in hand seems better than two in the bush right now. 600-800 take home seems terrible for truckers have to deal with.

Originally my plan was/is to do six months of trucking then do a NCCCR cert course for rigger level 1, Rigger level 2 and Signal person. The CDL was to increase my hireability as a rigger(CDL Rigger) then work towards being a crane operator.
