When we, an insurance company, make a FMCSA filing we are attesting to the FMCSA that we are providing coverage for all vehicles owned, operated or leased to the named insured.

Wow that's crazy. They were in the 12,000 to 15,000 range couple years ago. Who was your first quote?

definitely not although your state may be cheaper or something. it added a couple thousand when i added my new DOT#, and you have to make sure you bump your coverage to $1m and not 750k. What kind of truck did you put in the quote?

I just talked to my process agent and told her what my quote was and her jaw about hit the floor. I'm sure she just hadn't dealt with a new driver in a long time though. She said she will make some calls for me but I don't it will get too much better.
