Same boat with the wife but no kids to feed though. I just need more out of life. Hard to explain. Reading so many forums I get mixed feelings. I know if I can find work I will work on my own. Mature enough to manage all aspects once I learn. 13k a year with no exp?

Hey that was my line if thinking, i was making 24 bucks an hour sitting in an office and working 9-5. I just yearn to be my own boss and control my destiny. I worked for a company for 7 years and they decided to just close down my site. Thats it. No health insurance for my kids. They cut me a severance check and thats that.
2 of my buddies that i grew up with both are O/O and have been doing pretty good. They have given me lots of advice and told me how its going to be hard and stressful, but the reward is there. I'm after it and im hungry. Ive set up my LLC, got my DOT, i need a truck and insurance and im ready to hit the road (i think)Jeck Thanks this. -
the no insurance worries me.

Do whatever you're comfortable with. Plenty of good companies though will hire you right out of cdl school as a company driver. Romans Motor Freight is one of them. Check their website.Jeck Thanks this.

why do you have to sign contact to be company driver?

Sorry, put this in the wrong thread; should have been in Jeck's thread.Jeck Thanks this.

I guess thats if you have them pay for your CDL training or take a bonus. Plus it seems you only make around 40-50k starting out. And not to be picky but I would be interested in no touch freight. Not as young and strong any more

You going to run under your own authority or lease on to another company

40-50k is what i came from. Whether i worked extra hard or just got by my check was the same. I want to be in charge or my destiny.Jeck Thanks this.
