I obtained my CDL Class A with tanker on Friday. I live in Simsboro, Louisiana and I'm 33 years old with a clean MVR but obviously no counted experience.
Theres a lot of information on the web that ive been combing through, and its kinda gotten a little overwhelming. So, I thought I'd ask the guys who have been here before.
Are there any truly good companies (they actually care about starting new guys off well, decent starting pay, weekly home time) that you guys would recommend for me?
Or would it be best to go through the Maverick, TMC or similar programs first?
I love the idea of learning the right way from the start, but, the idea of being stuck under a contract is worrying.
Ive studied all weekend (mostly while in the deer blind haha) and plan to go test for my hazmat endorsement tomorrow.
Im not sure if thats what I want to do or not, but I figured it could do nothing but help to have.
For some reason, I dont think that I want to do dry van or reefer. Tanker and flatbed seem to be calling my name.
Thank you guys in advance for any and all information/opinions.
