Experienced drivers or those that want to work in the resource sector (oil/gas/logs) do quite well.

It's not hard to pull down $100,000/year minimum in alberta with a class 1. But you have to want to do the work.

Yep, AB is the best province to be in as a truck driver. New job is minimum 180k a year.

Sorry, but I don't agree. What company is paying $180,000 for new hires? Just because you make a statement, doesn't make it true.

If they are, you must have to be working a lot of hours per week. I don't want more than 50 hours per week. I like having a life outside of work.

Yeah at $180,000 you are probably oilfield permit working tons of hours. That works for some drivers, not for everyone for sure.

Myself, 5 days a week, 12 hour run. Set schedule on linehaul. That's enough for me.

I agree 100% and/or also be on call.

Plus, one needs to have a valid CSO, H2S, & First Aid certification, winch, offroad, RGN (maybe), and mine driver safety training. This can get quite costly with zero guarantee.

This is OTR Canada/USA multi-axle RGN heavy haul. I'm not a new driver. I did RGN 4 years 2015 to 2019 in Ontario...then drug dealer for 2 years, then moved to AB and did logging for a few years with a few months of oil field tanker when logging was a bit slow. I dont drive trucks for low pay. Anything under 40 an hour, ill stay home. New job pays percentage....a coworker I met on the first load Gets 2% more than me as he's been here for a while. I had mentioned the pay sounds too good to be true, as in ON I was making 125k a year, but was paid flat rate per day not %, he showed me his T4 from last year, he made $247k. % pay is the best way to make good money for me. I have a good work ethic and and well above avg skilled. I made more money logging than anyone on the whole crew. I would have stayed logging being paid %, even tho it's extremely easy and mind numbing, the money was good with this company, but boss retired, he was the best paying logging company I heard of but took a chance with another company claiming similair pay, well they lied, so here I am back to heavy haul. And no I don't work extreme amounts of hrs, am federally regulated now.

    .

The on call thing would suck at any company i believe you’re on call at Martin Brower also where Iron Maiden works for a few years . Seems in trucking it’s either low pay if you want a work life balance or 12- 14 hours a day 5- 6 days a week . Atleast in Ontario it’s that way , i’m really thinking my self of going to roll off , Az jobs don’t pay here

The hidden gems do lol. I've always been able to find them, why can't you, or the majority of others, I don't know, that's a you problem if you're willing to settle for anything but top pay. It's definitely out here, just have to make the effort to find it.

I'm not on call, I can schedule time off whenever I want. But yeah couple of my first job offers were on-call so I didn't take them.

So what, it's not that hard to get those little safety training courses, I got em when i went to try oildlfield tanker, and it was easy, just boring., and they don't cost very much.
