May I contribute a different perspective? I’m writing this while in Beaumont California, the so-called Inland Empire area, which is the most polluted place in the US (maybe some areas around Houston or Galveston are similar?). There are hundreds of warehouses and thousands of trucks here. There are also a lot of people who live here and breathe the air. We’ve been doing smog checks on cars here for years. With all that in mind, I’m not sure what’s the big deal about doing smog checks on trucks too. As far as I know, registering with CARB is not expensive, and there are various ways to comply with CTC. It doesn’t seem to me to be such a big price to pay to be able to operate in the state with the biggest economy. Isn’t it worth it? Just wondering if there are some of you who can also see it from that angle too. Sincerely asking, not trying to be negative in any way.
