New DOT# = Impressive spammers

Have you guys ever received a letter with a nice letter head very professional and it states 2nd or final notice you must be compliant with hos and other bs or you will be revoked?.. If you don't send 100$ to so and so..?

At the very bottom in Super duper tiny print it says so and so is not part of the fmcsa and is not a dot entity

 

Yes that is the letters I was talking about in my comment. I am sure people fall for it though.

 

The second you post your MC#, it goes into a registry, that ANYONE can have access to. All that personal info. And there's many companies that sit there hitting refresh to see when new carriers pop up. Some are a little bit more enthusiastic or underhanded than others.

 

Same happened to me. I wound up getting a landline at my shop just to funnel this junk to. I don't even print the landline # on my business cards. Sucks paying for it but I was sick of my cell ringing off the hook with solicitors and brokers.
