    We've been running the Bridgstone R280 285/75R 24.5 all around on our 99 T600 with perfect wear pattern (no cupping) compared to the lug tires we used to run. Been getting better fuel mileage, too (about .25 to .75 mpg better). Almost got about 250k miles out of them. Always grossing about 80K pounds, too.

    And if your running team, the rib tires are way more quiet, too.

    iv run the d660's in the oil field. burned off a set of rears in about 40k mile. there a soft rubber compound and don't seem to hold up to off-road use very good.

    Gambi, you and I are doing the same type of work although I have been doing a lot of road reconstruction. That said, I use the cheapest closed shoulder 16 ply tire I can find. Tires are constantly getting poked with wire, or bruised from sharp concrete, so a premium tire just is not feasible. after they are about 2/3rds wore I move the survivors to the trailers.

    How much does traction matter to you with your line of work primarily being construction?

    I would 2nd both the recommendation for the Michelin XDN2's and the Bridgestone M726EL. The 726 starts with a full 32/32 deep tread, the XDN2's are only 27/32 but have a far wider contact patch and wear like Iron. A ton of siping in the XDN2s as well which really helps out with traction. You'll pay a pretty penny for them, but they will give you a good return on your investment.

    Just an update... I went with the General D660's. Price including mount, balance beads, valve stems, trade-ins, etc etc was $3,785. Good price? I felt it was fair...but what's done is done. I am happy with them thus far, but they definately are rock flingers...good thing I have full poly fenders.

    The last set of drives I bought were BFG DR444's for $299 a piece in November of 2009 and I thought that was a rip...how times have changed.

    Priced some yesterday. 16ply 22.5 tall FD663s $505 each. The Michelins I priced were $670. Michelin xha3 steer was $580

    Sign on to the Michelin Advantage program. Think the XDN2's are around $515 w/FET or the same as Bridgestone 726EL through their program with OOIDA. They are the only two discounts I know of outside of being leased on with Landstar, Werner etc.

    I will be. I was going to call them yesterday to find out more about it and how good the discounts really were.

    It says it applies to all industries. If that's the case it'll be worth it as we run michelins on most everything unless it doesn't get used much.
