You said it's a short training period. Sounds like he's trying to cram as much experience and knowledge into as possible in that short time. Are you sure you want the alternative?
Might also be trying to break you to let the company know you're not going to work out.
Hang in there. Character doesn't build itself. Six months from now you'll track him down just to shake his hand.

Exactly. Get it over with and behind you. Once you get your own truck it becomes easy. The training period is always the hardest, although it sounds like you are getting an extra helping.Another Canadian driver, jmarc77, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this.

Just to be contrary -
What if the trainer is bending over backwards to give the trainee time to do things? What would take him 30 minutes and a "average" trainee an hour is taking 1.5-2 hours. That means there is less time to pop into the truck stop, etc.
Last week was a 5 day, 2,200 mile week averaging a 13 hour day start to finish. Easy customers, all drop and hook, 4 loads in total. Trainee thought I was pushing too hard. By myself no day would have been over 11 hours, start to finish and that would include a nap.Another Canadian driver, rockeee, Siinman and 2 others Thank this. -
That's a pretty darn good point too.Another Canadian driver, Siinman, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this.

Poor trainer: "I haven't had a shower in two weeks because of this new guy. He's running me ragged!! Took us three hours to strap down a crate yesterday."
Another Canadian driver and MIT Thank this. -
Hot weather right now, combined with a hot diesel engine running, blazing sun .Looking like the killing fields out there for them drivers.
jmarc77 and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
Does your trainer happen to be chewing on one them uhhh toothpicks?¿
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
For the record, we've been in and out of all of our shippers and receivers as fast or faster than most of the other trucks there. I'm sure my trainer can do it faster than I can, I've been doing this two weeks, he's been doing it for 15 years. I do understand the point you are making, but I don't believe that is the case.

Is your trainer a lease operator?
-
Wrong. You can't DRIVE after you get 14 hours in, but you can continue to work without driving 24/7 for the rest of your life without violating HOS.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.
