I tried for a few months to find a job here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I couldn't find anything with no experience and my young age doesn't help at all, most companies don't even consider me a potential applicant. I am fed up driving with this guy, but due to experience purposes I don't have much choice. I was told by a friend to just stick it out for 3 months and try finding another job. But I hope I can find another job before this, I shouldn't be punished for learning something I'm brand new too. I appreciate everyone's response.

We're here to help, but I gotta say, with as much c*** as he's teaching you, you're much better off leaving now. Keep looking, or wait until the time is right. As much as you know he's teaching you bad habits, those habits are still being ingrained and will have to be reversed after the fact. Are you going to know the right habits to replace the bad ones once you're on your own?

No one and I mean NO ONE has the right to strike you with a bloody screwdriver!

Work at a warehouse. Go find a yard dog gig. Register with a temp service. Enlist. Go on the dole. But never, ever let that driver strike you again.

Take 3 months of that? No way. Respect starts with you respecting yourself. You can't give respect if you don't know what it looks like.

You raise very good points, it's better I leave now before I get all those bad habits ingrained into my head. I'm currently on a trip, but I plan on quitting as soon as I get back home. Hard to believe I stooped to such a low level just to gain valuable experience. It's sad to see how some people don't understand that every driver was new once upon a time...

One thing I would look at, as young as you are, is a UPS type place. Work the docks for a couple years so you gain seniority and age both. The age thing is so insurance will allow you to be hired, the seniority so you can make the jump to driver (company paid training, maybe even).

    JReding and Toomanybikes Thank this.

Kijiji is Canada's Craigslist, might well be something on there for you. Probably not too desirable but at least you should be able to avoid screwdriver beatings.

    JReding Thanks this.
