Quit overthinking things. Create your own way on how you do these tasks that works for you. I don’t do a pre trip in the steps they outlined. I do everything in my own way that makes sense for me at every pre/post trips and every steps . Also back in the day when I got my CDL there was no automatics. Let’s say the few companies I worked for I was known as the machinist as I grind every single gear every time. With all that grinding I have now sharpened my shifting skills to a skilled floater.

    I'm 51, held a CDL for 30 years, been training since I was 26.

Best piece of advise I ever gave, been told, is imagine yourself looking down on the truck and tractor as a drone.

It' bends in the middle. Always think about what that nose swing is gonna hit. Get out and look. #### the amazon driver or the W9 bull hauler flashing their lights waiting on you, if they were in a hurry they'd get their fat ### out and help you back in.

Going down the road, always look high ( lot of places don't preach that anymore). Aim high, miss small.

Just like driving in snow, keep as much space between you as possible, even if it slows you down. Be patient.
