I use to make deliveries in southern DE years ago. Loved driving through that part of town. Lots of farmland. Good scenery. Small town feel. Open space and flat leveled land and roads as far as the eyes can see. Nice country feel and atmosphere. It was relaxing to drive on rte 13 heading all the way down to Salisbury...with the sun shining down, windows rolled down, breath in that nice country air, listening to radio, leaning back, set the cruise at 55 and digging the scene with that gansta lean. It's what driving is all about. There would be Royal Farms everywhere. Literally every 15 - 20 minutes apart. Use to stop there all the time to grab some of their chicken fingers and wedge fries. Really good food. Just loved driving through that area overall.
But enough of the sappy reminiscing of the good ol days. Back on topic.
Seaford has a couple LTL companies around your area. ODFL (Old Dominion Freight Line) has a barn in Seaford. Same with XPO and YRC. Then you got UPS Freight in Federalsburg and Estes in Salisbury. Give them a shot. Put an application online...as most LTL's will have a dock to driver/apprenticeship/training program. Or go there in person and talk to the TM and see what happens.
ODFL in Seaford is looking for city drivers....

And XPO in Seaford has a full-time dock worker position available at this time. It may lead to driving position in the future though....

And oh...as far as the smoking, I would switch to vaping instead. Lesser of the two evils. I had a couple co-workers who quit smoking by gradually reducing the nicotine in the vape juice from 18 mg, to 12, then 6, to 3. They said it was the only thing that helped them quit smoking, since the nicotine patches was garbage.
Good luck and best wishes![]()
