New driver needing some advice

Why is it important for you to shift gears? They both pay the same. Are you joyriding or working?

 

After looking at my first reply I want to make something clear. While I have a serious doubt this charge will be dismissed, almost every court will allow you to set up reasonable payments. Just go and sin no more. You should have no problems getting a job. Just make sure you can get past a possible hair test!

 

You better be really sure you can pass this hair test. Once you fail it you own it forever, no matter how many clean ones you have in the future.

 

And don't admit to ever using pot.
I used to have a list of companies that hire SAP graduates, but the list has dwindled down to zero.
Western Express has recently turned down SAP graduates that applied.
Some drivers still luck out and find something though. Insurance companies don't want to insure cdl drivers that have ever smoked pot or gone through SAP.
It's not the trucking companies as much as it is the insurance companies.

Get the ticket resolved before applying anywhere.
If the ticket is 15 mph or more over the speed limit, then that's a serious problem.
Anyway, get this resolved and we'll give you at least a dozen or more companies that will hire you.

 

A couple drivers posted this company is pretty lenient about hiring. Maybe that's true, I don't know. One driver posted he worked there and they do a lot of Interstate 10 to California and back.

Latest reports have that Western Express flatbed does urine test and Stevens Transport refrigerated does urine test.

 

Smart to be safe. I know some here will call BS but I know someone who went through rehab and had trace amounts of Marijuana in thier system for around nine months. The testing was done for rehab so I think they would of been under the threshold for a DOT positive but they still had traces of it.
Go get yourself a test kit to be safe before going in for a official test. Cheap peace of mind.
And as others have said. NEVER admit to using in the past. It's BS to have to lie but it's their game and their rules.
