thats true, its better to have someone along side you who has experience in driving it. When I started driving the snow season was pretty much over but taking a load into Denver it was snowing during April and I remember the experience, driving slow, stopping every so often to bang the ice off my wiper blades etc.
It can be bad but its not always bad, the main thing like people said is to go slow and thats for any type of weather. You adjust your driving to the conditions of the road, you dont want to be going fast in major winds either that you run into, I remember hitting a nice storm through Nebraska where I was going almost a crawl, also another when I was on the 80 with a mt trailer that was rocking back and forth and I drove about 15mph right along with several other trucks. Its better to be late then to never get there at all.truckindiva89 and Snowshoes Thank this. -

This is a toughie, I would go out with a trainer now, that way you can learn to throw chains and get some hours in the snow and ice, I had to teach myself and it took about an hour to throw chains my first time down 15 in the snow. I have seen an experienced driver on 84 in northern Utah right by Snowville in the median jackknifed, I was first one passed, and stopped to see if he was ok. He was, truck not so much. Winter driving can be and is very stressful, I was routed last year off 84 to 30 in Idaho, took 2.5 hours longer than it would have if I could have stayed on 84, but it was 11 vehicles slid off the road, trucks and 4 wheelers alike, or so I heard on the radio.
