This is very good advice!
There is so much to learn besides dealing with snow and ice, even after 3+ years driving trucks and growing up in the NW and driving in ice and snow my whole life I find it can be challenging to deal with bad conditions in Winter in a big-rig.
Why press your luck and start in the stuff when you can wait a few months and get some basic skills first, seems a no brainer to me.KW Cajun and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
I thought the same I should wait till after winter but I am glad I did not wait. I was able to be out in the Ice and snow and with a trainer that has been through about 20 or so and his help made me way more comfy to drive it. As he always told me keep it slow and straight. And watch how many times you are told your are number 1 LOL

Not disagreeing with you, just want to draw your attention to a different perspective. You're northwest, she's southeast...polar opposites. You see truck killing wildlife and snow in May. She sees snow once ever 3 to 4 years that's gone in 12 hours and 100 million people who won't know how to drive when they really need to. That company she's talking about will probably run her up into the northeast, where her main obstacle is and will always be traffic.truckindiva89 Thanks this.

Chinatown and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Not in the opinion of someone from the NW. Any weather problems in the NE will just interfere with the main obstacle...the Traffic.truckindiva89 Thanks this.

Winter sux but you can't avoid it.honestly I dont mind it. I drive when everyone is parked and I hit all the fresh snow etc. Because I know in the morning it'll get worse. I drive from Cali to Denver 2x a week. Meaning I cross Truckee sierra Nevada and Wyoming 12x a month and I still haven't seen it all although I've seen most from 70 mph gusts and 50 mile white outs in Wyoming to a Bob sled ice condition down donner. And yet I take it easy and smart. Nothing better then when the road is closed and you're in the sleeper all warm watching the snow fall down whole browsing milfmovies
