When did Swift dump us into Obamacare?

If anything, it was dumped on us by the head jerk himself.

Last year when I adjusted my coverage I had a much better idea of what I was getting, as well as the actual cost.
I had more choices, and they were laid out in a much better way.
I am paying the same this year, but with slightly better coverage. How is that a bad thing?

    That is my point.

As far as I know Swift was the first to raise driver pay last year, and they did it in a fairly substantial way.
Your reasons are the same as Swift's.
Then everyone else followed soon after.

That simply raised the bar a little bit, industry wide.

Now Swift is giving another pay increase less than a year later.

2 pay increases in less than 2 years.
I have been here over 4 years and last years raise was the first.
It had been several years prior to my employment since the previous one.

I just wish I had been the fly on the wall in the meeting.

Swift is already one of the best paying starter companies out there. Prime is the only one that tops it and you have to drive those little trucks to get the better pay.

Swift has changed a lot in the last few years, however the big this is with Swift being by far the biggest company out there, what they do is copied by the other mega carriers.

Bottom line when swift ups pay the industry will follow suit.

Human resources probably got a few calls to verify my employment lately. If the pay boost is considerable, I am apt to put up with the crap a little longer.

The message was for o/o and l/p drivers specifically. Are they about to do the same for company drivers, too?

    Exactly right.

If the largest of the 'bottom feeders' raises pay, what choice do the other smaller companies have if they want to get those newer drivers?

I think the raise last year was to entice drivers to stay with Swift longer.
When everyone else followed suit it evened the playing field once again, but it probably also increased what everyone could charge for freight - and probably increased overall profits as a result.
Pay the driver 10 bucks more per average load, but charge the customer 20.

The result could be that Swift now realizes it holds the reigns on minimum driver pay and minimum freight rates.
If any smaller (especially non-training) company tried it, it probably wouldn't work.

Message was tailored to each truck, whether it was O/O or company ... the beans were spilled in the mentor message that went out, noting a pay increase coming for company drivers ... when the O/O's beefed about it on FB, Joran said there was to be one for O/O also.

I'll be surprised if they give us more than a nickel
