once youll go solo you would get home a couple times a month it really depends on your trainer when you get home

That's what I figure, I just hope I get home once a month while in training. Once I'm solo, I'll probably do 3 weeks out, 3 days in.

Ok so, my trainer got rerouted and won't be back here until the 3rd. Anybody know if I'll be getting my per diem or layover pay or anything while I'm waiting?

That's the problem; I didn't find out until 8pm friday night. Would the night/weekend dispatchers know the answer?

Just-in-time :biggrin_25526: ! I'm still hanging out at the Hotel too. It's Sunday, my trainer is supposed to be back to the terminal today and call me, but his truck needs some work. Is it possible to die of boredom?

Is it normal for new trainees to be sitting this long after orientation? Orientation was over at around 2pm Thursday. It is now Monday and my trainer keeps getting rerouted. He was supposed to be here Friday, but they had him pick up a load that needed to be swapped and he'll be here Monday instead. Fine, it happens. But then I call him again to see what time I should be ready and he got stuck on a different load that won't pick up til 2am Tuesday. I understand things change, but dang, I'm losing my mind sitting here in this flipping hotel. I wanna get on the road, man!

yes it is unfortunately sometimes. There are not enough trainers, and recruiting keeps doing their job, which is recruiting people. I don't think that they check if there will be a trainer available until you make it through all of orientation. There are too many variables. People don't show up, don't pass the physical, drug screen and so on.

It sucks when you are sitting there waiting. I don't know if they will pay you anything for having to wait on a trainer. You really need to call the office and find out.

Just think that this is going to prepare you for trucking.....hurry up and then waaaaiiiiittttt.

    Good luck to you.

Yeah, I heard back from the office about an hour ago, that layover pay doesn't take effect until you're on a truck. So, since I haven't been on a truck yet, I've been sitting around for free since Thursday. Sucks, but hopefully it'll be worth it once I get to driving. I've heard too much good about the company to give up yet.
