Getting the vaccine is not an option. I will risk everything I have for my freedom to choose and will not be bullied by the US govt now or ever.
On to the second part, if driving the truck is not the hard part, what is? Not planning any flatbed work just van or reefer and I can’t imagine anything would be harder than working in a power plant.

I agree w the advice that recommends investing your time and efforts into a small company position first.
Make your newbie mistakes there first.
You can learn the business, lanes, network etc. on the company dime before spending your own.
Many that have gone before would say the same thing. Unless you are independently wealthy and a few hundred grand means nothing....

    Oxbow and JoeyJunk Thank this.

I appreciate all the comments positive and negative and I truly understand the discouraging ones. I understand them so much that I almost fudged my experience level just to avoid those. In the end, I thought if was worth reading through all the feedback both positive and negative if I can gain any insight that would help me be successful.

Thank you!! I had to look up what a glider was and I do like the concept. Will definitely give that a thought.

Try and find a mega and work for them a year. I don't know if they are aren't requiring the jab but I know jumping head first into this industry with 0 experience is a very bad idea. Hell, even 6 months would be better than going in blind like you're planning to now.

Thank you for the advice but working for someone else isn’t an option.

Do truck drivers make that kind of money working for a mega carrier? Hard for me to believe that a lot of truck drivers become independently wealthy and or able to save hundreds of thousand of dollars to become an owner operator? How does a truck driver driving for a mega carrier become independently wealthy? How are they able to support a lifestyle and save a couple of hundred thousand. I see a lot of owner operators out there? What is their secret. That’s the information I’m looking for!

I’ve been diving 3 1/2 yrs and this past march we bought a used peterbilt with 340,000 miles on it. For the first 3 months we were attached to a company (didn’t make much money) but since July this year we have ran power only (hauling others trailers) and we’ve been killing it. I’m talking 10,000 a week every week. It’s really hard to make that kind of money unless your a doctor or lawyer. Not just the average Joe can make that kind of money unless you own your own truck. Crazy thing you can make this money without owning a trailer. We’ve been hauling dry van trailer too.
