I agree about running dedicated. I ran most weeks at 2700-2800 miles, and several times went over 3000. If I wasnt trying to get home each week, I probably could have run even harder. They were always rushing to get me home for new outbound freight, and so I knew my next move before I dropped my load, many times before I even left the plant.

2 good weeks in 3 months yet he is still there? If i had a $240 week, I'd been long gone. I think your friend may be exaggerating a bit.

When a new driver is assigned their truck is up to them (the new driver) to clean it inside out, or does the company employ someone to detail it before it is reassigned to the new driver?
-
It is often said that the company cleans 'em, but it is usually you who is left to clean the the ashtray... eeerrr... I mean truck... same thing.
Pig smokers.

Yeah, even though my truck was fairly cleaned out when I got it, I still spent about two hours cleaning EVERY surface with Lysol and some good scrubbing towels. Now the outside of the truck is a different story lol. No ammount of cleaning will help with all the dents, dings, bent/broken pieces and all the crude bondo jobs and flat off-orange color spray can paint that's all over the passenger side of my truck lol. (all previous driver damage too i might add) I've had a few people walking back to their trucks parked on my passenger side do double and even triple takes at the quality Schneider patchwork job lol

My first truck was old 715k miles, but the last driver took good care of it, mostly clean but did smell of smoke. Ran well with no problems. I was kind of disapointed when I had to give it up.
Plan on giving it a good cleaning, set it up the way you want it and just go with the flow. -
When a new driver is assingned their 1st truck, it will obviosly be older & high mileage.
What constitutes them upgrading to a newer lower mileage truck ? -
Luck of the draw? I have seen dedicated drivers get upgraded to a "leftover" truck from a driver that left the account.
As far as cleaning out of the truck, I took my truck over from a driver whose last day was the day before my first day. He had it cleaned out fairly well, but because I am crazy about those types of things, I would reckon I spent 12-15 hours cleaning every surface at least twice, plus a few cans of Lysol to boot. When I turned my Pumpkin in, I spent about 3-4 hours of cleaning it up once my personal effects were removed.

It really is luck of the draw...it took them a week to find me a truck, a 2007 flat-top automatic with about 322k miles on her. From what I hear, new trucks generally go out to teams first, then get recycled down the line

I call Stanley Steamer out and let them have at it. $65.00 later the carpet, seats, curtains etc are all clean. Let it idle for a couple hours with the heat on full blast and the windows cracked a little and it is pretty much dry. Some how my mattress always has an awful stain or is torn up and needs to be replaced. Darn the luck.
