We've got a young woman staying here at the farm and working. She gets room and board and $11.00 an hour. Lots of hours. She has a biology degree and 50k worth of loans. The only jobs in her field are "research" positions at universities that pay 8 or 9 bucks.

The guy who does are refrigerant work had his son riding with him yesterday when they came to give a bulk tank a shot of refrigerant. He graduated with a degree in anthropology and one in history. Hasn't found a job.

One of our sons is here on the farm, several of his friends got teaching degrees over the last few years. They work as subs waiting for openings. One has landed a full time position in math. Starting pay is 38k with a 4 year degree, and he has 5 years to complete a masters. After 15 years he will be at 88k.

Around here there are 2 CDL schools. Both private. One charges 4200 the other 5000. There is talk of a major increase in tuition if they are required to become "accredited" colleges. Currently they are both "state certified" as are the instructors. Courses are 6 weeks. Graduates get jobs at various companies, making various amounts. But all in all I can't see how you can call it a bad deal when drivers can get jobs and college grads can't.

If my memory is right, I paid a whopping $ 1500.00 for my school. Through a community college. . .

That's what most of us did. BUT, salt and sand is not considered part of any load. That's what the state said anyway.

but f-n bird feathers is? man i really cannot stand the state/town officials telling people what to do because they seriously come up with the stupidest crap ever. in my house i added a bathroom in a huge room i have, it measures 20-15, i've turned it into a studio apartment. what i cant understand is adding a bathroom, sink, toilet, shower, is totally fine. but the minute i add another sink 10 feet from the other sink, i'm illegal. who the hell decides this stuff!?

It's amazing isn't it? But when you think about it hauling cages with live birds how would you control the wind blowing off some of their feathers? I've seen a truck before with feathers going everywhere, now they need to go after the bullhaulers and what comes off those trucks!!! Don't get me started on houses. I pay the highest property tax in the land and if I plant a bush outside it goes up. It could even die and look like crap and they'll still get you.

I don't know. But I would say no because you can tarp the load and you can not with live chickens. Like I say I don't know and I'm glad they took those stupid questions off the test.

Never seen one tarped but I suppose you could....I would think if it were a problem, I would see more hay haulers on the side of the road. But I dont, and there are a lot of hay trucks out here.
