So the fresh meat is going to negotiate a shoe deal before he even hits the field for the first time. Boy do these mega companies have these new drivers and the general public BS'ed with this 'driver shortage' crap.
Sorry OP, as a newbie it may sound harsh, but we talk about this 'driver shortage' thing here just about everyday. Now maybe you have gotten the notion, like many seem to before they know the facts, that some of us are full of it when saying this 'driver shortage' is just a myth; A lie, a come on, a sales pitch to invest in company sponsored truck driver training. A cry for more government corporate welfare. A play on the economics of supply and demand.
As fresh meat to the industry, you should view yourself more like toilet paper then premium sports athlete: Expect your training company to fill you up with BS, wipe their ### with you, and throw you away. Them complaining about a driver shortage, is like a toilet paper factory crying about butt wipe shortage because someone in the front office forgot to stock up the men's room.

Prime pays $900 a week during training.
I applied to many jobs. Ended up with one that works out to $75k a year. Could be lower with enough sustained problems. Also just finished a strong week with two runs....if I were to only do those two, every week for a year. I’d make $98k for the year.
Not bad for fresh out of cdl school. -
I can’t negotiate #### at my company. I never heard of doing that.

I am going to be brutally honest. In order for you to have negotiating capital, you have to bring something to the table. As a driver, very few have any negotiating capital and newbies have none.
This is caused by the license is easy to get coupled with a lack of professionalism because of it makes the drivers a commodity and nothing more. This limits the negotiating capital only to the need of carrier to seek out good drivers and retain them because most drivers only then have that clean record and professionalism to be the leverage.
