Wasn't there a thread in drivers with little experience and companies that would hire them? My daughter's bf got his cdl last year. Webby to quell for Melton and drive otr six months. He liked it but found a local route position. He says he left Melton on good terms and now wants to get back out otr but said Melton told him he was ineligible for rehire. Are there other companies that would hire him with a little over a year driving but 6 months otr?

If Melton thought he was ineligible for rehire, then we need to know why in order to help him. IETRH can include a wide range of problems, from truck abandonment to service failures to preventable accidents. Also, let us know the location of your daughter's BF so Chinatown can jump right in with his normal list of companies to consider.

Well it's here in Oklahoma. All I know is what he told me. I know it wasn't abandonment, he returned the truck to the Tulsa terminal.

Some carriers will not rehire until a certain amount of time has lapsed since they left. Why? I don't know. Maybe have to do with health insurance or other benefits?

That just funny. There is a driver shortage but would not want him to get benefits to fast.

Sounds like your daughters boyfriend might be fibbing about leaving on good terms.Because if that was the case then he wouldn't be on the no hire list.He doesn't have much exp so tell him to start applying to starter companies. He won't have to go thru training again I don't think.

probably because he left after such a short time, and now after such a short time on his new job he wants to return. that sounds reasonable.

I think there would be many that would hire him, but probably not Melton.

Never known him to lie but human nature is human nature. I have watched the kid work, surprisingly for someone his age he does work his tail off. If I could get him alone I might be able to get a straight answer out of him lol. My daughter is more apt to fib.

I dont doubt he's a good worker but maybe something happen at Melton that he's not proud of and too embarrassed to say.To be on the no hire list could be a big deal and may tarnish his chances of getting hired. There's a difference between no hire and having to wait so long before you're eligible to reapply.
