Sorry but if that person is listed as ineligible for rehire there is something there. Kind of like if you see smoke you know there is a fire someplace. I say this because if a carrier will rehire for any reason like time or retraining they will list driver as eligible for rehire with review. It is what it is, sorry.

Yeah I am going to talk with him and see if there is something he isn't revealing. He does work hard and he has only held a few jobs (he is 24) I know a few drivers just a few years older than him who think there is nothing wrong with jumping from job to job. I can say though as a father, he takes great care of my daughter.Dave_in_AZ and Lepton1 Thank this. -

Tell him to do some online applications then follow with a phone call tomorrow. When he calls, just say, "I'm checking on my job application."
@jimjam38 - companies bend their own hiring rules these days, so ignore any "experience required" on the websites. All the companies I listed hire new cdl grads.Last edited: May 9, 2016

I quit JBH once, as mad and disgusted as anyone could ever be, told the DM & the regional OM to put their truck where the sun never shines. Took the truck back to the terminal, after my drop, cleaned it out & went home. The OM called me the next day, said man let's work this out, and I went back to work for them the day after that.
tucker, TROOPER to TRUCKER, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Magnum Ltd. is another good one that hires new cdl grads.

ah another point has been brought out and I guess I should have assumed that. - he is young. very young.
Most places won't even look at you if you are less than 23. so at 23 they gave him a shot. they did the OTR training with him that everyone needs after going to school for a CDL, and shortly after they put him on the road solo he bailed.
I'm telling you I think that is the only reason they don't want him back. right now they are looking at him as a very young and unstable risk.
when you are that age and a company gives you a shot you stick with it. period.
my son got a shot at working in a motorcycle shop, doing set ups and light mechanical work. they were training him to do the heavy hitting mech work. he got a bug up his ### that he couldn't hang out with his girlfriend with all the hours he was working so he quit after 8 months.
little later we were talking to another bike shop owner I knew, my son brought up, "are you hiring" she said yeah you still work at XXX he said no I quit, yadda yadda. she looked at him and said "well if you were still there I'd take you in a minute, but if you couldn't make it there I can't risk it on you right now"
all I'm saying is I wouldn't pressure the kid too much about trying to hide things or what did he do. this sounds like a very legit case of a co standing their ground on a "flight risk" kid. -
Yeah we were all that age once. I admit I myself have done some boneheaded stuff. They say hindsight is 20/20 -
aint that the truth
