I just watched the OOIDA video on the New Entrant Audit and they said you are only required to bring 6 months of logs. They said if you need to keep logs for longer then that for other reasons keep them far away from your files and only bring whats required. Dont offer more then is absoloutly necessary. You are not required to bring more then 6 months but if you do and they start looking through all your logs they can still gig you for something they find on those further dated logs...... So 6 months of logs is all you bring.

    9ge Thanks this.

I'm not sure about Florida.......but be prepared that in some states they want to come to YOUR office....so if that's a corner of your livingroom just keep it in mind!!

I got audited exactly 2 months after I applied for my DOT (and thanks to a prolonged truck search, my MC was active only 2 weeks). They tell you exactly what paperwork to send -- in my case they wanted 30 days' logs & receipts, drug consortium letter, medical card & license, paperwork for truck & trailer, the insurance form in a particular format, etc.

They send a list in a snail-mail letter and you have 2 weeks to upload the documents through the fmcsa web site. After 2 weeks, a California highway patrol officer called saying he was handling my case and he wanted a slightly different version of that insurance form. He also asked about the loads I had run and how much revenue I had generated.

A week after I uploaded the new insurance form, that same officer called and said I passed. Later that week the fmcsa mailed a letter saying I passed my new entrant audit...

I never had anyone come in person -- it was all online & over the phone.
