Finally got the email and a phone call from a dot officer. I've got everything uploaded except my logs. I'm missing some fuel receipts. Is that going to fail me? Also, how do you guys keep receipts from fading? Scan to computer?

You can put all your fuel tic. in a Fed ex over night to keep them out of sun,

Some fuel stops will email you fuel receipts. Keep them out of the sunlight to keep from fading. Any envelope works well.
Good luck.PumpkinNuts Thanks this. -
you will not fail for fuel receipts. they list the failures on the website. no drug consortium for example.
the new entrant audit is very laid back and is treated as more as a educational audit to ensure you did everything you needed too. to get ticketed would take some serious dumba$$ness.Rounded_nut, HopeOverMope and PumpkinNuts Thank this. -
Download an app like Camscanner, works beautifully. Snap a photo, save it as a pdf and drop it into a sorted digital file on Dropbox, G Drive or something like it. Take paper receipt and throw it away. Easy as pie.

Take the fuel receipts that you do have and paper clip them to each of your log sheets. On the ones that are missing, paper clip a note saying lost fuel receipt to them. Usually when a auditor starts looking through logs and sees fuel receipts attached to them. The auditor will toss them aside after randomly flipping through just a few. And don't be afraid to tell the auditor up front that you lost some of your fuel receipts and are trying to get copies from the truck stops.
Did you pay for your fuel with a credit card? If yes, you're credit card company can help you prove that you fueled where and when you logged that you did.
You need to take care of them fuel receipts. Without them, doing your IFTA quarterly report can be interesting. Fluctuations in mpg can quickly trigger a IFTA audit as well.PumpkinNuts Thanks this. -
Thanks for the information. I received an email this morning from the dot investigator that I passed!
flatbedcarrier and xsetra Thank this. -
sounds good. see, no big deal.
PumpkinNuts Thanks this. -
Good for you to pass.
Now make sure you keep up with the paperwork, weekly. It will overwhelm you in a short time if you don't.
You already know this.
Good luck.PumpkinNuts Thanks this. -
It does get out of hand really fast!
