I think the one that came out to my place said that I could do my own yearly inspections on my truck. I'm not sure, but I do it anyway and buy the stickers to put on my windshield saying so.

In Virginia, shops make a living off of finding things that really are not worn out and telling you it has to be repaired by them before they can give you a good sticker.

If you do your own inspections you have to fill out a inspector qualifacation form adn keep it in your files, brakes are the same. If you don't have one I could email you a blank one. I thought it was silly considering I have over thirty years in truck service industry. They didn't break my balls just gave me the form to fill out.

Question on this topic. Do they do another audit before granting your "permanent" authority or do they just send a letter? I'll be 18 months in two weeks and was wondering if I should expect a letter?

I just had my new entrant audit today (my authority was granted Feb 24, 2012) and passed with no points. When the officer showed up, I had all of the files he would need laid out in an organized manner and it took about 2 hours. I would like to thank everyone who has shared information on their audits because I had everything I needed and looked professional.
