I put marks on my deck center, and then fore and aft 10', 15' and 20'. Just used some leftover vinyl from my lettering. Make's it a lot easier. I don't have to count out footsteps from the middle anymore.

you guys are talking like company drivers with the load in the middle of your trailer. It is called belly loading which is ok if it is not your trailer. Put the load over the wheels and use 2 tarps if you have to. Do not constantly belly load your own trailer. If it is a single coil you have no choice. With the load in the middle the frame rails have to act like a big spring and throw the weight forward and back this is very hard on a trailer
-
I've always found it fascinating when we load, skids, bags whatever, we're throwing all kinds of securement.. Right next to us (sometimes) a van is loading the same load and they just throw it in the box.. lol.

That's why van pays the big bucks, not...

As for the OP question.
Never make a driver drop and hook flat for flat when ALL the equipment is held in the trailer... I don't care if it's tarped and *ready to go*... Umm, it's not... There's darn near a Thousand Pounds of schtuff in thar!
This can wear a guy out.. -
Im not just talking about 2 peices or only a few. Im talking about say a load of plywood? maybe a dozer or a peice of equipment on a step? Plate or sheet steel? When I said centering I ment if you have a 40 foot peice of whatever, center it dont put it all the way back or forward.
