RockinChair and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

So to get the deviation within the 2.5kHz spec will these radios require parts changes in addition to tuning?
BennysPennys Thanks this. -
If an export radio is at 5KHz deviation, it may be possible to adjust it down to the 2.5KHz spec. It just depends on the design of the radio.RockinChair Thanks this.

You bring up a great point. With higher deviation like 5 kHz in an export radio, your audio will be a lot louder than a CB radio with 2.5 kHz deviation. Personally I hate the loud and so-called proud CB radios (snipped limiters), because they hurt my ears. They are too loud and hard to listen too. It will be interesting to see how these two different radios communicate on FM mode.RockinChair, '88K100 and Timin770 Thank this.

Yes loud and proud is a pita. If you are listening to certain conversations, one side blasts out with unintelligible ghoulash while the other guy is much softer. I can only surmise that most of the "loud" guys don't know how bad they sound
'88K100 Thanks this. -
I agree. For some reason when their audio is too loud, the tone of their voice isn't very pleasant to listen too. It's more of a screeching sound to my ears. So they would probably be very upset that I quickly turn my volume off rather than listen to them, especially after all the money they spent having a tech make it sound that way.Timin770 Thanks this.

If you're in Narrow FM and another station is using Wide FM, the Wide station will have clipped audio in the Narrow FM receiver.
Here's a better way to say it
Listening to a wide band FM signal with a narrow band FM receiver (or conversly a narrow band FM signal with a wide band FM receiver), you may experience lower or higher than normal volume and/or some audio distortion.
RockinChair Thanks this. -
Well that's something else I forgot about, the narrow vs wide FM. So basically the export radios will need to talk to each other, and the CB radios need to talk to each other, or else their audio won't sound as good.

Make sure you tell them they sound like crap
I’m installing a Motorola CM300 cuz its standard in my area, , not sure if I will leave the “workhorse of ages” TRC 427 or opt for a newer smaller CB. CB in my area is so dead, last road closure, over 2 miles of trucks and only 3 of us able to communicate
