    Hello,

How can I get a Carrier to move my freight when I have no credit yet. What should a new broker do to get carriers to move their freight?

Figure that out before they start a brokerage.

I did few loads for new brokerages. 50% upfront and 50% on delivery via wire transfer or comcheck

    Dune-T,
Is it ok to ask, which lanes do you work in?

Depends on the season, usually midwest-southeast and Midwest-Northeast in the 4th quarter

Give me a fair rate and pay me as agreed, or a little faster if you want me to haul again. I will haul for new guys, not often, but as a general rule I keep the credit leash real short. Over time that leash is extended. It helps if you are a brokerage arm of a trucking company, so it has assets and knows the game already. If you are an independent with one room of your house as an office. The leash starts out extremely short and usually stays that way.

This is far too generous TBH unless 'real short' means 'pay in advance by bank wire'.

Honestly one of the biggest barriers to me ever starting my own brokerage is that first year or two in business before good credit is established. There is just no possible way I could channel 10% of my normal freight volume through a new MC without fronting a bunch of trucking companies a few hundred k... And dealing with all the problems that came from having paid in advance and losing all leverage.

If I ever do own my own MC I will probably have bought someone else's freight brokerage. There's no possible way that starting one from scratch is a good use of my time. Then again I'm not a great freight brokerage operator I'm a great freight brokerage agent. Those two roles are very separate. I'm much more interested in actually doing business than I am in figuring out how to keep the wheels of business turning.
