Hello and thanks for the forum. I don't drive freight commercially and have only 14 wheels between both of my trucks, but I spend a lot of time on the interstates in the south central area with road trips and company travel so I share the road with the big boys a lot of the time.
I quit flying for travel because of the inconvenience and BS and now use the pickup or the M818 depending.
That means a 12 hour drive sometimes (i.e. DFW to KC) but I've gotten to like that kind of travel at least in the 4-wheeler. Beats the flying cattle car.
The M818 is not so comfy but it's fun. I've bolted a van body on in place of the 5th wheel and swapped the transfer case to one with OD - pushing the redline from 52MPH to 72 with the small cam Cummins. That's not much but it means I can run 55-65 all day and not beat up the engine. You'll find me in the granny lane. I put 17K miles on an M35 in long distance road trips before trading up to the tractor and I like the bigger truck a lot better and hope to get the beast out on the road more often.
The CB radio is a constant source of information and entertainment. At least I can find out where the good food is.
I hope to learn more about trucks and trucking and will probably lurk more than post. If you like old electronics, my website is bunkerofdoom.com
