I just looked it up and Rand charges $90.00 for the receiver, which comes standard with the Dezl. And if someone wanted free traffic they can get it on this site. http://maps4pc.com/download/ Google also has this for free and I've been using it for years. I do like the way it works on the Garmin and it's bang on. I have never tried it on the Rand so I don't know how well it works. Like I said I own a 510. And in the last month ran the new Rand and Dezl and find the Dezl to be a better product.

If you post on a item or its features, then try to get it correct. If not, then others will read that post and not do any research. I was pointing out that DsquareD was informed several weeks ago about what he posted.

What you buy is your choice.

I am not here to compare products, but if you are informed of an feature, don't keep posting false information.

Mark what did he post this false information? I have been keeping up to most of the Rand posts and all of the Dezl posts. In my own opinion the Rand site is hard to keep up with and don't know how you do it. Over 657 pages of drivers complaining and only 25 here of drivers liking a product. Well maybe not all complain I know I didn't because my 510 still runs good, but when I got the 720 I complained and got a response right away. I like that. The 720 was bad right from the box so I took it back. Rand needs to do a lot of work on there product if they want my money again.

I don't want to see this thread get locked, so let's try to be civil.

I made my decision with the best information that I had at the time. These things (prices, rebates, etc.) change frequently. If I'm going to use a stand alone GPS then I don't think tying it to a phone is a good solution.

If the information has changed or even if I was slightly off the mark on the subscription, I still didn't want to buy the additional hardware.

You will notice that I did mention that the RM was very feature rich and I did not make any comments in the RM thread about what I decided to buy instead. I politely stated that it wasn't for me and offered thanks for all the great support that I did receive over there (which is another plus for the RM).

    Mark,

Got your PM and perhaps I misunderstood the premium service plan which is $19.99 per year I believe. I also had already made my decision before your other post.

So to help me and others understand, if one buys the traffic receiver for $89.99 they will get traffic updates and do not need the premium service? Because the way I read it in the RM information I had to do both. So if I got that wrong I apologize. Even after seeing your other post it still didn't make a good connection with me because my mind was already made up at that time.

Using a a phone as a means to use a GPS kind of defeats the purpose of having one. But I think I understand what you are saying now.

The RM 720 was/is a very fine device and I miss some of the features like the dashboard and phone numbers for State DOT's & truck stops, I used both. So I'm not trying to trash talk the RM product in any way.

The Garmin DEZL 560 just seemed to offer me all the features that I was willing to pay $200-$300 for. I could have only spent $100 and got an app for my phone, but I didn't want that either.

So hopefully this clears things up for all of us and we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I think first hand experience is great advice....helps me to decide if i want to buy and try a new product or not. The more detail and user comments, the easier it is for me to zero in on if it will most likely meet my needs. I enjoy getting consumer reports for all the testing and ratings, but I still look for user comments to see if I think it will suit me.

There is a setting which i don't understand what it does, and they don't explain it in the owners manual.
Settings> truck profile> edit active truck profile> truck type: over the road/delivery
    What does it do?

I've been trying to register at the POI Factory but I've yet to receive an email after registering. How long does it take to get registered? I thought this would be a simple and autonomous procedure.
