1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

you may want to check out Watkins Shepard.. i drive for them, and you only anout 100 miles away from our terminal in Dalton, exit 326 off of I75...
they would prob send you to our terminal in Conover Nc for a 10 day orientation.. they'll put you up in a hotel with other students...
couldnt hurt to check them out..
heres a link to another thread on here.. all about the company... http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...s-the-inside-scoop/27211-watkins-shepard.html
not the best but def not the worse place to start off with...
we deliver in atlanta, buford, suwanee, braselton everyday... so hometime would never be an issue for you... i dont know what starting pay is anymore here.. but i think its .27 or .28...
    good luck to you..

Listen up Smokeyman! S2B is giving you some straight-up advice. I've thought more than once about moving closer to Watkin Shepard's Myrtle, MS terminal just so I could go to work for them. I've been doing this wannabe due diligence thing for 6 months now.....bottom line, CALL WATKINS SHEPARD!:biggrin_25514:

I live in extreme south MS (Gulf Coast). About 350 miles from Myrtle. I called just yesterday just to double check on any new lanes down this way....no dice! :biggrin_25525:

Boyd Bros is flatbed. The big terminal is in Birmingham, with a drop yard there in Cartersville GA. Good company, GREAT drivers.
