I chose Schneider, I wanted to be home as much as possible, I did like the pay for CRST, with my Military time, I was told I would start out at .42 a mile, but they are only team drivers, and they only offered me jobs with 28 days out at a time.

So this past Tuesday (Jan 19th) I took my behind the wheel test at the DMV, I did have to educate the tester on how to read the gauges, he tried to fail me, but after showing him the air tank gauges are in 25 psi increments he had me perform a test again and I passed that portion. I was a little nervous on my drive, the weather wasn't the best, I just worried about the other drives capabilities. I passed on my first attempt and now have my CDL. I had already taken my double & triples and tankers endorsement, now I am studying for my hazmat. Tuesday I start my orientation with Schneider.

Many drivers fail the pre-trip at the DMV because the testers have no clue what they're doing. If you held the pre-trip book and gave them the test they would fail.

I remember a CDL school class with 17 students in NJ went to the DMV and the clown failed every one of them. Don't know the outcome but there was a big stink about it.

One guy posted on here he was failed in Illinois because he said "hose" instead of "line" 3 or 4 times and every time he said "hose" they took 6 points off his grade until he failed. This guy owns his own small trucking company and wanted the CDL to cover some local stuff in town if needed.
